Baritone Luke Terence Scott is a rising full-lyric baritone. Born in Scotland, Scott went south to England for his studies and then north to Finland. The launch of Scott’s professional career saw him making his debut at the Savonlinna Opera Festival in Roméo et Juliette alongside stars like Lisette Oropesa as ‘Juliette’ in 2023. This debut came swiftly off the heels of his debut with the Sinfonia Lahti, Helsinki Chamber Orchestra and followed by singing under the legendary baton of Jorma Panula with the Vantaa Symphony Orchestra.

Helsinki, Finland has become Scott’s home and musical base. Next season he will make his house debut at the Finnish National Opera as ‘Mr. Pilkington’ in the Finnish premiere of Alexander Raskatov’s Animal Farm in the acclaimed production by Damiano Michieletto. He will be performing with the Jyväskylä Sinfonia & Vaasa City Orchestra as a soloist for the IX Jorma Panula International Conducting Competition, debuting with the National Theatre Prague for the world debut of Voseček’s Ogres and debuting at the Pellinge Musikdagar Chamber Music Festival. Scott has been further embraced by being the overwhelming winner of the Finnish Wagner Society’s Bayreuther Festspiele Scholarship prize and Audience prize, these prizes will see him attend the renowned Bayreuther Festspiele on Summer 2024.

During his studies at the Sibelius Academy, Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Royal Northern College of Music, Scott regularly competed in international competitions and was a finalist in the 7th edition of the Paris Opera Competition held at the Palais Garnier. He was a soloist & young artist for the Buxton International Opera Festival, soloist for London Symphony Orchestra’s Community Choir and Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra. Finally, Scott has always believed in exploring modern repertoire and he was part of the original cast of Uljas Pulkkis’ All the Truth’s We Cannot See which was performed in both Helsinki and Los Angeles as a partnership between the Sibelius Academy & University of Southern California.

Scott has participated in Masterclasses with Jorma Hynninen, Andreas Schmidt, Soile Isokoski, Juha Uusitalo, Kevin Murphy, Kamal Khan, Sir Mark Elder, Sir John Tomlinson, Roderick Williams OBE and Matthew Best..
